Holy Trinity Orthodox Church

Faith or Works?

"I have been raised to believe that grace is all that is necessary for salvation... no works. But having read the verse from James that you quoted about faith without works being dead, it now makes sense that works go with faith. But how many works are necessary for salvation?" Answer

Who We Are
An Introduction to Our Faith Community

ImageHoly Trinity Orthodox Church, a parish in the Diocese of the Midwest of the Orthodox Church in America, was settled in 1917 by Russian immigrants in the Kansas City, Kansas neighborhood known as Russian Hill. Over the last 85 years, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church has grown from a small Russian-speaking parish to one whose members are primarily American-born, English-speaking converts to Orthodoxy. Indeed, the growth of the parish has mandated the sale of the small Russian Hill church, and a much larger temple has been built in Overland Park at 119th Street and Pflumm Road.

ImageAt present, Holy Trinity parish has nearly 200 members, including approximately 50 children. We are a growing church community worshiping God -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- in the 2000-year-old Orthodox Christian Tradition. While many aspects of Orthodox worship may seem strange and unfamiliar to you as a visitor, we trust that over time the beauty, sanctity, and reverence of the Divine Liturgy will bring you into a closer and eternal relationship with God. You will be in our prayers, and we invite you to join our church family.

O Heavenly King, the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth! You are everywhere and fulfill all things. O Treasury of Blessings and Giver of Life, Come and abide in us, and cleanse us of every impurity, And save our souls, O Good One!
