From Vespers for the Prophet Elijah (July 20)

O never-setting light of the Church, Prophet Elijah, burning with zeal for God, you made the rain cease from heaven; you were fed by a raven. You convicted kings and caused the pagan priests to die. You called down fire from heaven. Twice you caused the death of fifty men. The widow's jar of flour did not give out because of you, nor did her flask of oil fail. Through your prayers her son was raised from the dead. You made fire burn the water, and caused the streams of the Jordan to be turned back. You ascended into heaven in a fiery chariot. Elisha received a double portion of your grace. Do not cease to intercede for us before God, to save our souls!

O Prophet, herald of Christ, you are never separated from the Throne of Majesty, and for each of us who are weak, you are always standing by; while serving with those in the highest places, you bless the inhabited earth, and are everywhere glorified. Ask for the cleansing of our souls!
