Welcome to Holy Trinity

Welcome to our website! Holy Trinity Church, is located in Overland Park, KS and is part of the Orthodox Church in America and in the Diocese of the Midwest. As our members have remarked about their own experience, we think you, too, will discover our church to be warm and inviting, and an excellent place to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ and His Holy Church. Visitors unfamiliar with the Orthodox style of worship will benefit from reading Frequently Asked Questions. If you visit, be sure to browse our bookstore which has an extensive selection of books and icons. If you have any questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to call the church (913) 681-6948 or send us an email.

October 16 The Holy Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council

The Synod of 787, the second to meet at Nicea, refuted the Iconoclast heresy during the reign of Empress Irene and her son Constantine VI. The Council decreed that the veneration of icons was not idolatry (Exodus 20:4-5), because the honor shown to them is not directed to the wood or paint, but passes to the prototype (the person depicted). It also upheld the possibility of depicting Christ, Who became man and took flesh at His Incarnation. The Father, on the other hand, cannot be represented in His eternal nature, because “no man has seen God at any time” (John 1:18).

Link to Symphony of Witnesses

May 25th, 2016

Fr. Tim has a website called “The Symphony of Witnesses” for you to visit during the time of his Sabbatical (5/21-9/20). This site will provide a page for one of the Saints of the day (including audio), and also reflections during his time away.

It is our hope in providing this website that you will truly “get to know the Saints.” Their stories should help us as we journey through the struggles of life.
